CLINTON — DeWitt County Emergency Management Agency announced today that local cooling centers would open during a forecast period of high heat from Wed. through Saturday this week.
High heat and humidity with heat index temperatures of from 100-110 degrees during the afternoon prompted the EMA announcement. Ambient air temperatures are forecast to be near or at 100 degrees.
DeWitt County Friendship Center, 410 E. Main Street, Clinton, is open from 8 a.m.-3 p.m., Mon.-Fri. for people who need to escape the high heat.
Vespasian Warner Public Library, 310 N. Quincy Street, Clinton, is open Mon-Thurs. from 9 a.m.-9 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. for people seeking to avoid high temperatures.
