Three CJHS 7th grade students were awarded this past week for essays they wrote about “Why are veterans heroes?” The annual essay contest is sponsored by the Clinton Elks Lodge Americanism committee. From left to right, Darvin Volker and Rob Volker, Clinton Elks, 1st place student Chloe Barth, 2nd place Mattie Bartles and 3rd place Emily Burkett, and CJHS history teacher Bob HIll. The three finalist students each receive $50, and the 1st place essay will advance to Elks’ district essay competition. All 7th grade history students participated in the essay contest.
