35th annual Kenney Fall Festival September 6&7

KENNEY — The 35th annual Kenney Fall Festival will be held on Friday, September 6, from 6-9 p.m., and on Saturday, September 7, from 9 a.m.-9 p.m.  The festival is held in downtown Kenney and is family friendly with free entertainment.

Opening ceremonies will take place on Friday night at 6 p.m. with the Kenney/Hallsville American Legion Post 1133 conducting the flag presentation.  Jacob Morse will play taps, and Tina Leathers will sing the National Anthem.  Ernie Harvey, minister of Kenney Christian Church, will offer the opening prayer.

Kenney Christian Church ladies will hold their cake walk and BINGO for prizes.  The Kenney Fire Department will put their truck on display.  Terry’s train ride will be held at 7 p.m.  The Friday night entertainment will be “Elvis Himselves.”

Saturday morning will begin with biscuits and gravy from 7-9 a.m. in the Kenney Community Center’s north room.  A donation will be taken, and it will be on a first come, first served basis.

Entertainment for the festival will start at 1 p.m. with Michael Morrow; more entertainment TBA for 2 p.m.  A favorite of the festival, the Heartland Cloggers, will be up at 4 p.m., and at 5 p.m., the Clinton High School M-Squad and Clinton Junior High School dance team.

“About Faces Brian P” juggler will perform at 6 p.m., and Saturday night’s band will be “Ryman’s Way,” playing country music.

Kenney Christian Church ladies’ aide cake walks will take place on Friday at 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 3-5:30 p.m.  BINGO for prizes is set for Friday at 6:30 p.m. and on Saturday at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m.  Austin’s Animals will be there at 10 a.m.; C Dubs Bounce house from 11 a.m.-7 p.m.; face painting with Mattie Dubson from Zoo Lady Face Painting Company from 3-7 p.m.; “Human Hungry Hippo” from 11 a.m.- 7 p.m., and “Balloons by Kristi” from 4-6 p.m.

New to the festival this year will be the DeWitt County Farm Bureau tractor drive at noon.  Registration will be held at 11 a.m.at the Farmers Grain/Excel Railcar Service parking lots.  Entry fee is $35.

Ninth annual bags tournament will be held at 4 p.m.; the Rhoades Brothers stock car display from 5-7 p.m.; also, lots of craft booths, games, food concessions, including the Kenney Civic League’s waling tacos in the Pepsi trailer, and Kenney Heritage Association’s root beer floats and popcorn, and a new Life Bridges Church food booth.

The Kenney Fire Department’s annual chicken dinner will be held on Saturday, from 2-6 p.m. at the fire hall.  It’s air conditioned, and carry out orders will be available.  They also will have for sale their annual raffle tickets.

The Kenney/Hallsville American Legion Post 1133 will hold a 50/50 drawing.  Kenney Civic League will hold hourly drawings starting at noon and a grand prize.

All festival drawings will be held at 9 p.m.
