CJHS students become first-time authors

Posted

CLINTON — Many great authors have published their first books before age 30.  William Faulkner, James Baldwin, F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway are some examples of those stellar writers.  But, a group of CJHS students are way ahead of that group.

Five students in Jessica Hubrich’s class at Clinton Junior High School recently published their first book together, and they managed the project from start to finish.

CJHS Zoo Crew, an ABC book about visiting the zoo, was recently published by Student Treasures, a company that specializes in helping students through the process of writing, illustrating and publishing their own hardbound books.

Hubrich said the class chose a topic, and then students spent time brainstorming to come up with an animal that would match each letter of the alphabet.

Lillie Dyer, Alexis Ewing, Khloe Parrish, Jade Roe and Aiden Rauch worked on the book for more than a month.  During that time, they learned about writing rough drafts and making corrections.
