GRIDLEY, Ill. — Ann L. Buchanan-Carpenter, 74, of Gridley, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at her son’s home in El Paso surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 6, 2022, at Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, El Paso with Dave Heath officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Kenny, Ill. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2022, at the memorial home and one hour prior to service on Friday.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or the 4 H Extension Office.
Ann was born on May 20, 1948, in Giessen, Germany, the daughter of Harold and Anneliese Mueller Buchanan. She married Anthony Sleevar III on July 11, 1970, in Bloomington. He died on June 17, 1977. She then married Roger Carpenter on August 11, 1979, in Gridley. He survives along with three children Cecilia “Cissy” Sleevar, of Garden City, Ala., Anthony “A.J.” (Jenny) Sleevar IV, of El Paso, and Sean (Margaret Nowaczyk) Carpenter of Frederick, Md.; two brothers Ken and George (Luperia) Buchanan both of Clinton; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Harold, and one sister Maria.
Ann was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, in Wapella, and later attended the River of Life Church, Meadows, Ill. She worked at Eureka Williams, in Bloomington, for 20 years and then at Walmart, Sams Club, and Hyvee, in Bloomington.
She was an avid missionary for the Indian Reservation, and was active with the Gridley Fest for many years, and served as a 4H leader in Gridley.
She was in the Quilting League in Gridley and enjoyed drag racing in her younger years. The family would like to thank Kessa Orris, Stacey Roeske, and Traditions Hospice for their special care.
