PALM DESERT, Calif. — Arthur Max Manuel, age 83, passed away on July 20, 2020, at Eisenhower Hospital, Palm Desert, Calif.
He was born to parents Russell B. (Tag) and Kathryn Doss Manuel on August 31, 1936, in De Witt, Ill.
Max attended schools in the Clinton School District and graduated with the Class of 1955 from Clinton Community High School. He attended Eastern Illi-nois University, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Max was an active member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.
After college, Max taught high school in many different school districts both in the United States and in other countries abroad. Max spent his adult life in the state of California. He enjoyed world travels and visiting historical sites.
Max leaves a sister, Donna Jean Manuel Bell; a niece, Kathy Trunk Carolla (Sal) of Burleson,Texas; and a dear cousin, Mary Kate (Katie) Reeder Fraley (Vance) of Taylorville, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Kathryn Manuel, and a nephew, D.J. Stanton.
According to his wishes, Max was cremated and laid to rest in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Cathedral City, Calif. A Service of Life in memory of Max will be held at a later date.
