CLINTON — After more than 20 years on the department, co-assistant Clinton Fire Chief Jason Karr announced his resignation publicly in a Facebook post on Thursday.
In a brief interview, Karr said he had a conversation with the Clinton Commissioner of Public Health and Safety Dan Ballenger on May 25 and advised him that he would be resigning.
“I’m not necessarily in agreement with the future path the Commissioner is taking with the department right now,” Karr read in an official statement, “and I feel it’s best that I remove myself from the situation. I wish them all well in the future and the service to the community is not in any way suffering and the department will always keep their needs met.”
Karr’s Facebook post stated that he plans to continue to volunteer for the Wapella Fire Department.
Ballenger could not be reached for comment.
