CLINTON — The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) has referred a local case to the Illinois Attorney General’s office.
The IEPA confirmed for the Clinton Journal on Monday that there was a leak of an estimated 4,000 gallons of diesel fuel at H&M Trucking Co. that allegedly occurred on June 30. A nearby pond was affected by the leak, and IEPA referred the case to the Illinois Attorney General’s office on July 24 for enforcement, according to Kim Briggs, IEPA public information officer.
Briggs said, since it was a pending enforcement case, no other information was currently available.
