TUCSON Ariz. — Betty Jean Cowles, formerly of Clinton, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2023, at her home in Tucson, Ariz.

She was born on April 29,1940, in Clinton, to Harold and Marie Gawthorp. Betty was a graduate of Clinton High School. She married Robert Cowles in 1958.

She worked at Eisner grocery, in Clinton. Betty and Robert moved to Henderson, Nev. in 1980 and lived there until retiring to Green Valley, Ariz. in 2006.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 2017. She is survived by her son Matt (Suzanne) of Sacramento, Calif.; daughter Katie (Jeff) Long, of Tucson, Ariz., and son Mark (Kelly), of Normal. She was a grandmother to six and great-grandmother to two.

Betty loved to crochet, sew and crafting of all sorts. She had a green thumb and always enjoyed gardening and growing house plants.
