KENNEY — Billy R. “Uncle Bill” Meadows, 84, of Kenney, passed away at 5:30 p.m. on February 25, 2018, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with J. Kent Hickerson officiating. Burial will follow at Baptist Cemetery, Kenney, with military honors. Visitation will be held from 5–7 Pp.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to the Kenney Fire Department or the Kenney Heritage Association.
Billy was born on December 22, 1933, in DeWitt County, Ill., the son of Earl and LeMira (Luckenbill) Meadows.
Survivors include his brother, Richard (Karen) Meadows, Kenney; sisters, Beverly (Harold) Palmer, Kenney; Dorothy Sparrow, Kenney, and Marge (Larry) Cooper, Clinton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Robert, four sisters: Mary Cox, Lola Daily, Ruth Taylor, and Rose Burgess.
Billy was an iron worker for J.L. Simmons, in Decatur, and helped on many farms in the area. He was also a U.S. Army veteran and volunteer fireman for the Kenney Fire Department for over 40 years.
