Brush pick up program again frustrating city

CLINTON — The city brush pick up program could be in for some changes, commissioner of streets and public improvements Kenny Buchanan reported during Monday’s city council meeting.

“It’s kind of getting out of hand,” Buchanan said.

The city has in the past had some problems with homeowners removing entire trees and placing them at the street for city pick up.  Consequently, the city established rules setting limits on the amount of brush residents could put out for pick up.

“In Lincoln, they only pick up if it’s storm damage,” Buchanan said.

He and public works supervisor Steve Lobb plan to look at the situation for possible changes.

“We’re spending too much time on brush pick up,” Buchanan said.
