CLINTON — In a home game on Monday, April 24, the Maroons took on the struggling but surprising St. Teresa Bulldogs.
The game seemed well in hand for the home team Maroons after 2 runs in the second inning, three in the fourth, and 2 more in the fifth gave them a 7-0 lead in a game nearly over. However, the Bulldogs (or “Dawgs” as they are affectionately called) were not about to give in and began to show their tenacity.
In the sixth inning, the Bulldogs rallied for 4 runs, which were answered by a single insurance run by Clinton. The Bulldogs then came up with 3 more runs in the seventh inning to come just short of extending the game.
The Maroons sixth inning insurance run was the difference in the game with Clinton winning 8-7. Jake Wade pitched 6 1/3 innings for the Maroons for the win. Jake (2) and Wesley Conn (3) accounted for 5 RBI’s for Clinton.
