CLINTON — Charles James Martin, Sr., 81, of Clinton, passed away at 9:20 a.m. on June 10, 2018, at Heartland Care Center-Riverview, East Peoria, Ill.
Masonic services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, followed by religious services, with the Rev. Randy Myers officiating at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton, with military honors. Visitation will be held from noon-2 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to Children’s Hospital of Illinois.
Charles was born on January 26, 1937, in Charleston, Ill., the son of Uriel and Wilma (Butler) Martin. He married Sandra Sue Kennedy on July 23, 1960, in Clinton. She passed away on December 20, 2010.
Survivors include his children, Charles J. (Susanne) Martin, Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.; Ginger (Mark) Barton, Mapleton, Ill.; five grandchildren, Jason, Jacob, Jesse, Janine and Jennifer; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren, and a brother, Henry Martin, Clinton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ronald Martin.
Charles retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation after 37 years.
