SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Cheryl Joy Wilson, youngest daughter of John Orville and Lena Redmon Wilson, formerly of Weldon, was born on May 26, 1948, at the Mennonite Hospital, Bloomington, Illinois.  She was called to her heavenly home on July 3, 2018, at her home in San Antonio, Texas.

Cheryl graduated from DeLand-Weldon High School in 1966 and from the Professional Business Institute in Minneapolis, Minn. in 1968. She specialized in microbiology, working the that field for 25 years. Her first employment was at Decatur Memorial Hospital,  and she ended her career at Southwest General Hospital, in San Antonio.

Her love of animals led her to begin her own business, Home Alone Pets, which kept her busy until a few weeks before her death.  Cheryl’s dedication and attention to detail gained the trust and friendship of many clients who will mourn her death.

She leaves two siblings, Elizabeth Ann Long of Harrison, Ark., and Marilyn Kay Kruse of San Antonio; a niece, Shelly Renee Long, Phoenix, Ariz.; nephews, Jon Russell Harris, Jourdanton, Texas, John Tracy Long, Harrison, Ark., and Leslie Scott Harris, Nathalie, Va.;  two great-nephews, Corey Shane Harris, San Antonio and Edward Alexander Harris, South Boston, Va., and one great, great-niece, Navi Winry Torres-Harris, San Antonio. She leaves several cousins in Somerset, Kentucky and Mich.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Delina Conrad Wilson, and one nephew, Elbert Edward Harris.

Our gratitude to her friends, Kelly, Paula and Sharon, who were here for her, showing their love in many ways.

To comply with her wishes, there will be no services. Those who wish, may sign her book on Legacy or a perpetual memorial on findagrave.com, memorial #191098996.
