CLINTON — The Clinton High School track and field teams had their first home meet this past Tuesday. There were five other schools participating in the meet; Argenta-Oreana, LeRoy, Ridgeview, and Tolono Unity.
The meet began in the late afternoon and ended four hours later under the lights.
For the Maroons, Austin Johnson set a new school pole vault record (in the cold and wind) of 12’ 7 “, beating the old record set in the 1980s. Austin Rauch took second in the high jump with a height of 6 feet even. He just missed clearing 6’ 1”.
For the Lady Maroons, Claudia Workman placed first in the shot put and in the discus. Claudia had a personal best discus throw of 91’ 10”. Madison Filkin took first in the 100-meter hurdles, just off the school record. Madi also took first in the 200 meter dash.
Payne Turney took first in the 400 meter dash and Julia Sterr was the winner of the 1600 meter run.
There were many other winners on the evening and the list goes on. Full results will be posted on the schools track website.
