CLINTON — On Monday, April 17, the Clinton High School track and field teams took to Sprague field for a quadrangular meet with teams from Blue Ridge, Deland-Weldon, and Delavan. This was a warm up for an upcoming conference meet in Mattoon.
Clinton was fairly dominant in the meet, having some heats only with the home team competing. There were no records broken, but the fun is returning to the meets as the coaches have asked the participants to pick an event they would like to compete in for fun.
The team is responding well, and while competing in their specialties is as hard as ever, now they can enter other events for the fun of it.
Following the high school athletes, the Clinton Junior High School track and field teams took to the venue on Tuesday, April 18. This meet pitted Clinton against Blue Ridge, Chatham East Lincoln, Evans (Bloomington), and Mt. Pulaski.
Clinton faired well in the competition but were challenged by Chatham East Lincoln and dominated in several areas by Evans.
Again, no records fell; but a good start to the season was presented.
