CLINTON — After a season opener at home, the Maroon wrestling team has been on the road until this week.
The wrestlers have returned home for the week, starting with the Mahomet-Seymour Bulldogs. And we all know how tenacious bulldogs are.
The junior varsity matches all went to the Bulldogs. The varsity matches started out well with five wins, but then there were four forfeits by the Maroons that cost the team 24 points and probably the match as the team won only half of its matches.
Even at partial points for the matches that weren’t fought, the team would have been much more competitive.
Bright spots in the match for the Maroons were Micah Downs, Brett Reeves, Christian Reynolds, and Colby Winter. Even with the loss 38-26, the Maroons are 3-2 on the season and moving on to a Friday, December 14, home match with Lincoln High School and then the Maroons-hosted Clinton Invitational on Saturday, December 15.
