CLINTON — The Clinton Maroon wrestling team has completed its season, and it again hassent several of its teammates into post season competition.
The post season began on the Maroons home mats with the 1A Regionals held at Clinton High School (CHS) with teams or wrestlers from 10 schools competing. Clinton had six competitors place in the Regionals and move on to the 1A Sectionals in Petersburg.
Those moving on were Evan Deavers (17-13) placeing fourth at 120 lbs., Deagan Eveland (21-14) placeing third at 126 lbs., Christian Reynolds (29-2) winning the 145 lb. class with a pin in 2:57 (giving him the all time record for career wins at CHS with 157 wins), Kolby Winter (26-5) winning the 160 lb. class with a pin in 5:37, Micah Downs (23-3) winning the 182 lb. class with a pin in 1:27, and Brett Reeves (20-10) winning the 195 lb. class in a 17-2 major decision.
Of those moving on, three Maroons made it through the 1A Sectional and will be wrestling in the State Class 1A Finals. Those moving on are Christian Reynolds (now 32-2) taking a first at 145 lbs. in a 12-1 major decision, Kolby Winter (now 28-6) taking a second at 160 lbs., and Micah Downs (now 26-3) winning the 182 lb. class with a pin in 3:29.
