CLINTON — The Clinton High School (CHS) Lady Maroons ended their regular season at home with Senior Night.
The ladies were matched up with the Meridian Lady Hawks in three matches, freshman, junior varsity (JV), and varsity. The freshmen began the festivities by taking an 8 point lead (24-16) and then losing the set 24-26. The Lady Maroons then bounced back to even the match with a 25-17 win.
Next on the agenda was the JV match. This match seemed well in hand as the JV team racked up a quick 25-7 first set win. Then the Lady Hawks took a 7-0 lead in the second set and held a lead for quite some time. However, the home team hung in and worked hard to tie the set at 24 and then took the win 26-24. This gave the Lady Maroons a 2-0 match win.
Last up for the evening was the varsity, who will lose five players to graduation this year. Thus, the team wanted the seniors (Riley Pruser, Claudia Workman, Raymi Dial, Jordan Murhpy-Leach, and Sydnee Underwood) to leave on a positive note.
The Lady Maroons took charge of the first set, not letting the Lady Hawks get any rhythm started, and won the set 25-16. The second set was tougher for the home squad as Meridian stayed with them through 16 points. The Lady Maroons then began a strong run, leaving the Lady Hawks in a tail spin to win the set 25-17. The Lady Maroons won the Senior Night match 2-0.
