CLINTON — December 10 saw another home meet for the Maroons’ wrestling team.
This meet was against the Hawks of Prairie Central. It was not a long meet, and the Maroons were not at their best, plus the Hawks are a very strong and competitive team having an exceptional season this year.
The Maroons started well, holding their own and winning four of the first seven matches, when something turned the tide and Clinton took it on the chin in eight of the last nine matches.
There were several matches lost to forfeit (3 for Clinton, 1 for Prairie Central) because the teams had no one to compete in some weight classes. Six of the Hawks’ 11 wins were by pins, while Clinton had only one pin.
The Hawks took the win over the Maroons 59-19. The Maroons will put this behind them and focus on the next meet.
