CLINTON — The city has added another way to make it easier for residents to pay their water bills.

The city now can accept paperless transactions for local water users to pay their bills.

“People are paying them now out of their bank accounts,” Wise said.

In addition to being able to pay water bills in person or by mailing checks to the city, residents may now pay directly through their bank accounts, a method that has become common.

“They just give them their email addresses and they can be sent to them electronically,” he said.

Wise said this also could help reduce postage costs for the city.  He thanked city treasurer Clint Lichtenwalter for developing the system.

“He has come up with a lot of ways to streamline the water department, which helps us in a lot of ways.”
