CLINTON —  After starting the new head coaching era with a 1-1 record, the Maroons have struggled mightily.  The losses piled up with a 46-0 fall to Tuscola, a heartbreaker loss on homecoming, 28-18, to Central A&M, and lastly another rout, 47-0, at St. Teresa.

However, on the evening of September 29, the Maroons discovered they could still play solid football.  They were facing the Sullivan Redskins, another team having a rough season.

The Maroons offense was carried by the running game with Bryson Carson (the Country Financial player of the game) carrying 16 times for 138 yards and 2 touchdowns (TDs).  Ty Berter had 5 carries for 39 yards and 2 TDs and Kolby Winter had 6 carries for 6 yards and 2 TDs.

Berter only had 3 completions on 15 attempts passing for 38 yards and one interception.  Sullivan had several promising drives that stalled due to incomplete passes or not making enough yardage for a first down.  Part of that was due to a very good defensive unit lead by Brandon Atten who had 2 quarterback sacks on the night.

This 40-7 win puts the Maroons at 2-4 overall and moves them to 1-3 in conference play.  The Maroons next play Central A&M tonight, Friday October 6th at home on Sprague Field.  Come support the Blackburn era Maroons.
