CLINTON — This past weekend, the Clinton High School gymnasiums and commons were full of volleyball players and fans as the Clinton Classic Volleyball Tournament was played for its 33rd year.
This year, as in the past, there were two “pools” of 10 teams each from around Central Illinois. Clinton was staged in the “B pool” and, unfortunately, did not fair well with a 1-3 record.
In the home team’s defense, most of the matches were close, and the results could have turned quickly.
The champion team was from Maroa-Forsyth with St. Thomas More second, Heyworth third and Prairie Central fourth. St. Thomas More’s Mica Allison was the unanimous selection for Tournament MVP (most valuable player) and Clinton’s own Madi Filkin was named to the All-Tounament Team.
