Clinton Hardees and its patrons help local veterans

CLINTON — The Clinton Hardees employees and patrons recently selected Clinton AMVETS Post 14 to be the recipient of their special “Stars for Heroes” drive to help veterans.

A generous  $300 was collected and presented to the Post.  Post 14 members elected to use the funds to help support two Clinton veteran families during this Christmas season.

As in the past several years, AMVETS Post 14 adopted a family to be its “Operation Red Sleigh” family.  This year, the Post members voted to provide a total of $500 (for gifts to the children and a grocery store gift certificate) for a Clinton veteran family.  The Post also voted to help another veteran family in need with utility bills and other expenses with an additional $500.

This year, about 25 families and more than 60 individuals in the Illinois area will be recipients of the Red Sleigh program.  The effort is part of the AMVETS philosophy and motto of “Veterans Helping Veterans.”
