CLINTON — It was a chilly Friday evening March 25, when the Maroa-ForsythLady Trojans invaded the Lady Maroons softball diamond.
The Lady Maroons seemed to be well prepared as they struck early with 3 runs in the first inning. Then, the Lady Trojans struck back in the second with 4 runs, and the Lady Maroons began faltering.
The next three innings were a scoreless pitchers dual, ended by the Lady Trojans’ scoring four more runs in the sixth inning to cap all scoring. The Lady Maroons dropped this game 8-3.
The junior varsity game followed with the “young guns” of the Lady Maroons playing a time-shortened game.
In this battle, the Lady Maroons again took the early lead and then held on tightly. The Lady Trojans were able to squeeze one run across the plate in the third inning, but the scoring ended there. Clinton won the JV game 2-1.
