CLINTON — Gary Thompson, Michael Cover, and Morris Ennis will be three of Clinton’s newest Land of Lincoln Honor Flight veterans, when they fly to Washington, D.C. on April 3 to visit sites at the nation’s capital. They will join other veterans for the charter flight, which is offered to area veterans at no charge.
The Land of Lincoln Honor Flight mission is to provide round trip transportation from Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport in Springfield for veterans in order of their service (WWII, Korean Era and Vietnam Era) who wish to visit their memorials in Washington, D.C. This day trip is provided completely free of charge to the veteran in honor of his/her service to our country.
The Honor Flight program is a nation-wide network dedicated to providing all veterans who apply a free trip to Washington, D.C. to visit memorials honoring their service and sacrifice. Land of Lincoln Honor Flight, Inc is an established 501(c)3 non-profit hub of the Honor Flight Network. Our Executive Board with elected officers governs the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight hub. We utilize volunteers in order to accomplish this mission.
