CLINTON — An ordinance amending city water rates is now on file with the city. The city council will take up the ordinance at its Mar.19 meeting.
“Last year, because of COVID and the way we had to do things, we let it go,” said commissioner John Wise. “But, we try to upgrade them every year; that way we don’t have a great big, large increase.”
Wise said they usually increase rates by 3 percent.
This is the rate for only water. The sanitary district sets rates for sewer charges.
“In this one, we’ve been leaving the staggered steps alone for the past few years and not bothering them on what the larger users use,” Wise said. “With costs going up, we have to adjust those, too.”
“We still keep ourselves as low as we have to,” he said.
Commissioner of accounts and finances Tom Edmunds said he thought officials would be pleased with the upcoming fiscal year budget for 2022.
“Clint did an excellent job.”
That budget went on file along with a $7,000 donation from the city for the annual July 4 fireworks display, the 2021 MFT summer street maintenance at $101,000, an ordinance terminating the TIF III district and the ordinance adjusting water rates.
Commissioners also approved a change order for the ADA compliancy work to the Center Street, Webster Street intersection.
