Clinton’s Jay Peterson elected president of Independent Insurance Agents of Illinois

CLINTON – Jay Peterson, LUTC, AFIS, of Peterson Insurance Services, Inc., in Clinton, has been elected president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Illinois (IIA of IL), effective October 1, 2021. Peterson’s term ends September 30, 2022.

As president, Peterson will serve as a member of the six-person Executive Committee of the IIA of IL Board of Directors. He is responsible for the general leadership functions of the IIA of IL and will act as an official delegate of the association at state and national functions.

Peterson is the president of the family-owned agency and became the sole owner in 2000. The agency has 14 employees at four locations in central Illinois and offers a broad range of Commercial, Personal. Life, Health, and Crop Insurance Coverages. Peterson is a founding partner of Central Illinois Agents Group (CIAG) and is a past President of the Farm Agents Council. He is a lifetime member and past President of the Pekin Life Insurance Companies Inner Circle Club, and his agency received Pekin’s Illinois Agency of the Year award in 2014.

Since 2015 Peterson has represented the IIA of IL in various roles, including regional director, vice president, and president-elect. Beyond the insurance industry, Peterson has served as a Rotarian, past board member of Dewitt County Development Council, past president of Clinton Country Club, past president of Clinton Lake Ducks Unlimited, and is a founding Director of Dewitt County Pheasants Forever.
