CLINTON — The Clinton Police Department issued the following statement on Friday morning:
At approximately 6:36 a.m. on Friday October 12, 2018, Clinton Police and emergency medical personnel responded to an address in the 400 block of North Maple Street, Clinton, for the report of an unresponsive 12 year old female. At 6:55 a.m., Dewitt County Coroner, Randy Rice, pronounced the death of Daphne J. Peavler, 12, Clinton. The investigation is ongoing. Assisting with the investigation is the Dewitt County Coroner’s Office, Dewitt County Sheriff’s Office and Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services. Clinton School District officials were notified and appropriate measures are being taken to assist school staff and students.
