CLINTON — The county board last week voted to fill a seat on the Regional Planning Commission (RPC) that has been vacant since April 2018.
Chairman David Newberg nominated former board member Randy Perring to fill the vacancy.
Perring lost his reelection bid in November, along with Sue Whitted and Cris Rogers, to candidates supported by DeWitt County Residents Against Wind Turbines.
Newberg said the RPC seat had remained empty because no one could be found from the Santa Anna Township who had interest in serving on the commission.
“I contacted Mr. Perring and asked if he’d be willing to serve,” Newberg told the board.
Perring lives in Farmer City, which is in Santa Anna Township.
The board approved Perring’s appointment with an 8-3 vote, with one abstention.
