County considers list of expenditures

Early meeting held Wednesday due to Thursday holiday

CLINTON — The DeWitt County Board held an early meeting this week on Wednesday due to the Thursday Thanksgiving Day holiday.

Several items where scheduled on the board’s agenda.

The board was set to vote on $14,000 for additional repairs to the Clinton Lake marina dock area.  The marina has undergone a number of improvements in 2022, including a newly built breakwater assembly.

The board also was scheduled to consider $7,800 for Chastain & Associates engineers for a the marina rip rap project.

The marina committee was recommending the board reject bids for marina float replacement and focus attention on repairs to the uncovered section and walkway of dock 3.

The board’s property committee was bringing forward a vote on a steel replacement bed from Pafco Truck Bodies for the 2011 Ford for $6,379.  Also, a motion was scheduled for the purchase of carpet squares and adhesive for the county building from Good’s for $20,000 and a motion to accept a quote from Wall-to-Wall to replace carpet in front of the county building counters for $16,870.

The finance committee scheduled motions for approval for the renewal of the county’s liability, property and workers’ compensation insurance in addition to motions to approve the circuit clerk’s compensation for fiscal years 2023 and 2024, revision of personnel policy, a fiscal year 2023 agreement with Floyd & Associates accountants, Christmas bonuses for county employees, a two-year highway union contract, line item revisions for the proposed fiscal year 2023 budget and approval of the budget and levies.
