CLINTON — The county board approved Sept.22 a proposal by American Environmental to update the county’s hazard mitigation plan. DeWitt County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) director Micah Gallardo briefed board members on what was involved.
“Our plan is coming up and I wanted to get the ball rolling on this,” Gallardo said. “This mitigation plan ensures us funding for large mitigation projects and anything after a disaster.”
Gallardo said the cost to the county will be zero.
“It’s not going to cost us anything,” he said. “It’s a FEMA grant.”
American Environmental updated the county’s last mitigation plan four years ago.
“They are a great company to work with, and this will open us up to more funding if we have a large mitigation project before a disaster,” Gallardo said.
In other board business, members approved three cases for special use permits recommended by the Zoning Board of Appeals. Those cases included permits for Clinton Lake Vacation Rentals LLC, a storage business, and Eagle Boat and RV Storage.
