CYS teams fall to Monticello in close games

CLINTON — The Clinton Youth Softball (CYS) Baum’s team recently took on the Monticello Warriors. 

The Warriors began the slugfest with five runs in the first inning to Baums’ team one run.  In the second inning, the Warriors added 5 more runs to their score as the game heated.  Baums’ team also added 5 runs in the third to the Warriors. 

The fourth inning was another explosive one for the home team as they plated 4 runs and still had the bases loaded.  But, alas, those runners remained on base as Baums’ fell in a close one 11-10 to the Warriors.

Another game was on schedule this evening.  This game was at the next age level up and pitted the CYS DeWitt Savings Bank team against anther Monticello Warriors team.  It was another scorcher. 

The Warriors started the game with 2 runs in the first, answered by 7 runs from the home team. 

In the second inning. the Warriors heated up, scoring six runs.  The DeWitt Savings team mustered only five runs in the second. 

Then, Monticello broke the ice with 7 runs in the third inning to 5 runs for Clinton.  The final inning (the fourth) saw the Warriors put the game out of reach, scoring 8 runs to the home teams two runs.  The final was Monticello 23, CYS DeWitt Savings 19.
