LaSALLE — Danny C. Holt, 71, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at the Illinois Veterans’ Home in La Salle, Ill.
Danny was born on October 1, 1946 to Clyde and Madlyn (Mann) Holt in Wynne, Arkansas. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served during the Vietnam War. Danny joined the service on November 25, 1964, and was discharged on August 21, 1967 with the rank of SP4 (T). He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, EXP M-14 Rifle Badge, VSM and VCM W/DVC 60 while serving his country. Danny was a United States Post Office mail carrier for 33 years prior to retirement. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Ralph Call.
Danny is survived by his two children, Dana Hughes of Rochelle, and Brook (Denise) Holt of Davis Junction; brother, Harles (Janet) Holt of Sevierville, Tenn.; two sisters: Jane Call of Ozark, Mo., and Janine (John) Elliott of Malta, Ill.; and four grandchildren:, Alex, Bryce, Clarissa, and Mateo. He has a very large extended family including aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, 2018, at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. The funeral will be 10 a.m. on Monday, April 16, at the funeral home with Ken Holt officiating. Burial will follow the service at Trinity Memory Gardens in Rochelle with military honors provided by the Eastern Lee-Ogle Honor Guard and the U.S. Army.
