CLINTON — Dennis “Butch” Boyd, 74, of Clinton, passed away at 3:56 p.m. on April 29, 2018, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Butch’s life will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton.
Memorials may be directed to Second Chance for Pets pet adoption or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Butch was born on July 21, 1943, in Decatur, Ill., the son of Carl and Lucille (Meador) Boyd. He married Lee Ann Burns, in 1965, in Kenney, Ill. She passed away on December 2, 2013.
Survivors include his children, Mike (Pat) Boyd, Sherman, Texas, and Bonny (Don) Hammer, Clinton; three grandchildren, Zack Boyd, Denison, Texas, Jordan Hammer, Clinton, and Kyle Hammer, Clinton; great-granddaughter, Eleanor “Lenny” Eveland; siblings, Diane (Bill) Morse, Kenney, and Bill (Steph) Boyd, Clinton, and special dog Buddy, who preceded him in death.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Butch was a 20-year veteran of the Kenney Fire Department. He enjoyed racing and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
