CLINTON — Area residents are invited to be part of the 2017 DeWitt County 4-H Fair July 7-10 at the 4-H fairgrounds, located on business Rt. 51 north in Clinton.

Specific shows for dogs, horses and shotgun are held on dates prior to the fair and specific times and dates can be found in the 2017 Event Schedule.  Over 218 4-H youth, ages 8-18, participate in showing projects in areas from robotics to goats to shooting sports.

Every project shown is judged and ribbons are awarded.

Top projects receive trophies, plaques and awards donated by our local community sponsors.

To see the talents of the 4-H youth in DeWitt County, check out the extensive line-up of livestock shows and general project viewings for the fair.  General project viewing can be done on Saturday, July 8 and 9.

If you are interested in the animal/livestock shows they are open to the public and are great fun to watch! The horse show will take place on Saturday, July 1st at 9:00 a.m. and on Sunday, July 2nd beginning at 1:00 p.m. On Saturday, July 8, make a day of watching the livestock shows with poultry showing at 9:00 a.m., goats at 12:00 p.m. and Master Showmanship at 6:00 p.m.  On Sunday, July 9, the beef show will begin at 10:00 a.m., the rabbit show at 12:00 p.m. and sheep at 2:30 p.m.  The swine show will round out the fair by showing on Monday, July 10 at 8:00 a.m.

After seeing all these great 4-H projects, try your hand at the Pie Baking Contest on Sunday, July 9th at 12:00 p.m.  The contest is open to the public and contestants will be divided by age groups.  All pies must be fruit, using 1 or 2 crusts, requiring no refrigeration and made in a disposable pie pan.  If pie making is not for you, join us from 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. for the Pork Chop Supper.  Tickets are $8.00 and all proceeds help support the upkeep of the DeWitt County 4-H Fairgrounds.  Carry-out dinners are available.
