CLINTON — April 8 was an eventful day at the C.H. Moore Homestead DeWitt County Museum.
In commemoration of Dr. John Veirs’ status as a charter member of the DeWitt County Museum Association, and his 50 years of devotion to and service on the organization’s Board of Directors, a bald cypress was planted in his honor.
The tree is located on the museum grounds south of the creek, near the covered bridge. The association thanked Dr. Veirs for all he has contributed to the C.H. Moore Homestead DeWitt County Museum during the past 50 years.
This is a milestone year for the C.H. Moore Homestead DeWitt County Museum because 2017 is the bicentennial of Clifton H. Moore’s birth, the sesquicentennial of the completion of the mansion and the golden anniversary of the DeWitt County Museum Association.
