CLINTON — The Clinton First National Bank recently selected Clinton AMVETS Post 14 to be one of the Clinton Veteran organizations to receive a fabulous donation to help Veterans. A very generous contribution of $1,000 was made to Post 14.
The members of the Post recently voted to use part of this year’s above-and-beyond holiday donations to help a Clinton veteran family during the Christmas season. As in the past several years, AMVETS Post 14 adopted a Clinton veteran family to be its Operation Red Sleigh recipient.
This year the Post members voted to provide a total of $1,000 (for gifts to the children as well as food) for a local veteran family. The Post also voted to give an additional $300 to the Department of Illinois for the Illinois AMVETS Operation Red Sleigh program.
The AMVETS of Illinois Operation Red Sleigh is designed to select a veteran family during the Christmas season and provide gifts for the children and some money for a special holiday meal. This year, over 50 families in the state of Illinois will be recipients of the program.
