BLOOMINGTON — Donna Lewis Thompson, 98, of Bloomington, Ill. passed away on May 22, 2018, two weeks before her 99th birthday.

She was born on June 6, 1919, in Rutledge Township, DeWitt County, Ill., to Cecil and Esther (Feicke) Rutledge.

A graduate of Moore High School, in Farmer City, Donna attended beauty school and later ran a shop in Clinton, where she met and married William K. “Bill” Lewis in July 1946.  They later owned and operated the Red Diamond Motel for more than two decades.

Following his death, Donna married Roy M. “Bill” Thompson in September 1976.  They split their time between Clinton and Mesa, Ariz. And enjoyed playing golf year-round and traveling extensively.

Donna continued these pursuits through most of her life.  She also was known for her love of bridge, sewing and baking the best pies in DeWItt County.

In addition to her husbands, Donna was preceded in death by her brother, Beryl Rutledge and step-daughter, Winifred Thompson (Joseph Kuchler).

She is survived by her daughter, Jan Lewis; grandsons Jonathan (Beth) Ketz and Jason Ketz; step-daughters, Mary Wendt and Ingeborg Lundh; nephews, John (Kathy) Lewis, William Rutledge and Robert Rutledge; nieces, Sarah (Jim) Cox, Deborah Lashbrook and Rebecca (Bruce) Brumleve, and numerous great- and great-great nephews and nieces.

A graveside service will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at Woodlawn Cemetery, Clinton, with the Rev. Randy Myers officiating. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Lewis Learning Impact Fund at the North Kansas City Schools Education Foundation, 2000 NE 46 Street, Kansas City, MO 64116.
