WELDON — Dorothy “Joan” Taylor, 87, of Weldon, passed away at 1:32 p.m. on November 14, 2023, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur.

Private family graveside services will be conducted on Monday, November 20, 2023, at Weldon Cemetery, Weldon, with Pastor Jeremy Sawyer officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2023, at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton.

Memorials may be directed to the Dorothy Joan Taylor memorial fund.

Joan was born on January 16, 1936, in Macon, Ill., the daughter of Edd and Esther (Davis) Cunningham.  She married Elmer “Squeak” Taylor, Jr. on March 3, 1956, in Clinton.  He passed away on September 19, 2015.

Survivors include her son, Steven D. (Sheila) Taylor, Winslow, Ark.; three grandchildren, Rachel (Patrick) Costello, Clinton; Joshua (Hannah) Taylor, Winslow, Ark.; and Ashley (Dillon) Barnard, Clinton; seven great-grandchildren:  Mason Costello, Liliana Barnard, Lizzie Barnard, Lorelai Barnard, Lunaria Barnard, Sophie Linker, and Louis Linker, and one on the way, Tobias Taylor; and two sisters, Paulette Harper, Decatur, and Dolly (Butch) Zerfowski, Macon, Ill. also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Becki Farris; three brothers, and three sisters.

Joan was a member of the Clinton Assembly of God Church.  She was a beautician for more than 20 years and worked at Eureka for 10 years. 

Joan enjoyed taking care of her lawn and flowers.  She had many friends at the Friendship Center.  Joan especially loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
