BLOOMINGTON — Eleanor “Ellie” S. Griffin, 94, of Bloomington, formerly of Clinton, passed away at 6:07 p.m. on April 7, 2019, at Mill Creek Alzheimer’s Special Care Center, Springfield.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 12, 2019, at the Calvert Funeral Home, with the Rev. Randy Myers and the Rev. C. Don Ferrill officiating. Entombment will follow at Park Hill Mausoleum, Bloomington. Visitation will be held from 10–11 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
Ellie was born on September 4, 1924, in Pennington Point, McDonough County, Ill., the daughter of Gustav and Sophia (Johnson) Winker. She married James D. Griffin, Sr. on October 28, 1945, in Bloomington. He passed away on March 24, 2006.
Survivors include her children, James D. (Sandy) Griffin, Jr., Springfield; David W. Griffin, Clinton, two grandchildren, Derek (Angie) Griffin, Springfield; Heather (Troy) Roark, Springfield; four great-grandchildren, Eva and Ian Griffin, Springfield, and Connor and Madeline Roark, Springfield.
She was preceded in death by parents, two brothers and one sister.
Ellie was a member of the Clinton United Methodist Church, McLean County and DeWitt County Home Extension, Business Professional Women of Clinton, United Methodist Quilt Project, and the Clinton Beautification Club. She enjoyed her flowers.
