STANFORD — On Saturday, October 24, the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) held this season’s regional tournament at Olympia High School, Stanford, Ill.
The hometown Maroons and Lady Maroons sent 12 runners (7 Maroons, 5 Lady Maroons) into the fray. The ladies race was first off the line, with Eureka taking the championship followed by Normal University.
The Lady Maroons, minus their top runner, finished well down the line in 10th place. Clare Holland was the top Lady Maroon in this race.
The men’s race began a little later, and that race was dominated by Olympia. The Maroons finished in 9th place as a team, but Ethan Black (our conference champion) took 6th place and earned a berth in the state sectional run to be held this coming Saturday, October 31.
The sectional will be run at Maple Lane Country Club in Elmwood, Ill. The course appears to be fairly flat and well laid out.
