FARMER CITY — The City of Farmer City this week named Glenn Neal as its new Police Chief.  Sgt. Neal has been with the Peoria Heights Police Department for more than 20 years.  Peoria Heights is a town of about 6,000 with similarities to Farmer City..

Neal received a Bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University and has been working on a Master’s Degree in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration there as well.  He is also a career member of the U.S. Air Force/Illinois Air National Guard, where he has served as a First Sergeant and in other command staff positions.

“It is a great honor to be named Farmer City’s Chief of Police.  I look forward to meeting the citizens, responding to their concerns, and keeping Farmer City a great place to live and raise a family,” Neal said.

“We believe Sgt. Neal is a good fit for Farmer City as our new Police Chief,” said Farmer City city manager Sue McLaughlin.   “Not only does he have the education and experience, but his experience comes from working with a similarly sized community which provides him excellent insight and understanding of our challenges and opportunities.”

Neal will start his new duties on February 4.
