Former Wal-Mart property moving at a “slow pace”
Katy O’Grady-Pyne
Rumors abound about what may go into the former Wal-Mart property in Clinton, but city administrator Tim Followell told council members Monday night that answer is a long way off.
“We will probably be a year without revenue on that site,” said Followell.
Wal-Mart has a lease on the property that doesn’t expire until Jan. 31, 2019 so interested parties can’t even look at the site until Feb. 1.
“I hate to say it but it’s going at a slow pace,” he said, “but this is standard business procedure.”
Followell said the owner is interested in selling and the property has been assigned to a brokerage firm out of Houston.
