CLINTON — On the Clinton Maroons’ edition of “Friday Night Lights,” October 6, the hometown Maroons were not allowed a good home stand.
The Central A&M Hawks flew into town and right through the Maroons’ defenses. The Maroons had the initial (and their only) kick-off to the Hawks, but then the Hawks flew into attack mode.
Clinton’s defense held the Hawks to a single touchdown (TD) in the first quarter, while the offense gathered momentum and drove for a TD of their own only to have the pass fall incomplete in the end zone and stalling the drive. From this point on, the game was in the claws of the Hawks.
Central A&M scored 4 TDs in the second quarter to lead at the half 34-0. The third quarter was a true football stand-off as each team held the other scoreless, a huge victory for the Maroons.
In the final quarter the Hawks were able to produce another touchdown, but failed on the extra point for a 40-0 win over the Maroons. The Maroons are now 2-5 overall and are looking forward to possible wins at Warrensburg- Latham tonight, October 13, and next week (October 20) back at home for Senior Night against Meridian.
