MESA, Ariz. — Harold Obourn Palmer, 84, previously of Kenney, passed away at Banner Baywood Medical Center, Mesa Ariz.

Harold would like to let you know that his work here is done.  He received a call on April 16, 2021 at 10:10 p.m. with an offer he just couldn’t refuse, for an assignment to continue to serve and will not be returning.

This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends, especially his son Wayne Harold Palmer.  He left detailed instructions with his wife and daughter who were present when he accepted this assignment to celebrate and not mourn the completion of his long and happy mission here.

Harold was born on July 10, 1936, in Bloomington, Ill., the son of Roy and Alma Palmer.  He married Beverly A. Meadows on February 5, 1961, in Clinton.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Beverly Palmer, Mesa, Ariz.; and daughter Kimberly Palmer, also of Mesa.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Alma and Roy, son Wayne, brother Howard, and step-mother Irene.

Harold was proud to have served his country in the United States Navy, serving on the USS Midway, his state, in Department of Corrections as a Lieutenant at the Logan County Correctional Facility, and his community, which he called home for over 40 years as a volunteer fireman, village marshal and village trustee.

Due to personal situations, services will be planned at a later date.  This obituary will be updated once a date has been determined.

Memorials can be made to the Kenney Fire Protection District.

Letters of condolences can be mailed to Beverly Palmer at 650 N. Hawes Road, Lot 3401 in Mesa, AZ 85207.
