JONESBORO, Ark. — Harry Thomas Jones, JR., 57, of Jonesboro, Ark., passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2019, at St. Bernards Medical Center.
Harry was born on November 1, 1961, in Clinton, Ill. to the late Harry T. Jones and Jean “Jones” Trummel. He was a former U.S. Marine who served for 14 ½ years. While in the service, he was stationed in North Carolina, California, Hawaii, Japan, the Philippians.
Harry was a dedicated member of Christian Valley Christian Church. His family owned the Bowling Center for years, and he enjoyed being active there.
Harry worked for Encompass Health, previously Health South as a senior mechanic. He enjoyed cooking, music and watching ASU basketball games. Most of all though, he enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
He was an active band booster parent with the JHS band while his children attended, and he, along with his wife, even won parents of the year. Harry loved helping others, it didn’t matter who you were, and he would go out of his way to do whatever he could.
In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his step-father, Edwin Trummel and father-in-law, Lavon Crawford.
Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Tonia Crawford Jone,s of the home; sons, Craig Jones of Clinton, Ill., Logan Harrison, of Jonesboro; daughters, Lindsay (Hunter) Lewis, Lauren (Gunner) Balch both of Jonesboro; sister, Helen (Ken) Holden of St. Charles, Mo.; five grandchildren: Nicodemus “Nic” Jones of Clinton, Ill., Matthew Lewis, Grayson Balch, Elayna Balch and Samuel Lewis, all of Jonesboro; mother-n-law, Norma Crawford, of Jonesboro and two nieces, Colleen and Tiffany Holden both of St. Charles, Mo.
A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, August 15, 2019, at 10 a.m., in Emerson Memorial Chapel, with Brother Mitch Ford officiating and John Crawford doing the eulogy.
Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with active pallbearers being Hunter Lewis, Gunner Balch, Craig Jones, Logan Harrison, Michael Crawford, John Crawford, Luke Hager and Gil Freeman. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Ferguson, Garry Lamberson, Wayne Mills, Larry Mills, Craig Monette, Lloyd Nelson and Mitch McCarroll.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel.
