LINCOLN – Sherry Hudson of Kenney, Illinois has been named the August Employee of the Month at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.  Hudson has worked in the medical records department at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital since October 2012.

As a medical coder, Hudson is responsible for coding patient accounts so that insurance companies can be appropriately billed for services provided at the hospital. Medical coders review documentation regarding procedures and patient conditions relying on ICD-10 (International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Problems) and CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) code books to translate physician notes into medical codes.

“I am proud to work at ALMH because of all the compassion, smiles, and care from every employee. From the time you walk in to the time you leave. ALMH is a GREAT place to work and after being here almost five years I can honestly say I’ve always looked forward to coming to work. The medical records department is like a family and we all work great together and with other departments,” said Hudson.

Her co-workers, Karen Pecoraro and Crystal Neal, nominated her for the honor. “She goes above and beyond each day to instill professionalism in her position here at ALMH. Her work ethic is proof that she takes an immense amount of pride in her job. She is a pleasure to work with and makes ALMH medical records a great place to work.”

She holds an Associate Degree in business administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare management.
