CLINTON — James “Jim” Rich, 93, of Clinton, passed away at 4:26 a.m. on August 14, 2018, at his family residence, in Clinton.
Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 17, at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with J. Kent Hickerson and Ernie Harvey, Jr. officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at DeWitt Cemetery, DeWitt, Ill. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, August 16, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to the Little Galilee Christian Assembly kitchen fund.
Jim was born on July 29 1925, in Clinton, the son of James and Eliza Jane (Privett) Rich, Sr. He married Wilma V. Longenbaugh on February 15, 1947, in Clinton. She passed away on December 22, 2001. He later married Mabel R. (Welch) Manigan on April 9, 2005, in Clinton.
Survivors include his wive, Mabel Rich, Clinton; children, Larry (Lori) Rich, Weldon; Linda Hickman, Clinton; five grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren; step-son, Thomas (Cindy) Manigan, Minooka, Ill.; six step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, five sister, one step-daughter, Anna Stepp, and one great-granddaughter.
Jim was a retired farmer. He was a member of the First Christian Church and the American Legion, Clinton. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Jim was a school bus driver for the DeLand-Weldon School District for 20 years.
