LINCOLN- Joann R. Mittelsteadt ,82, passed away on July 7, 2018, at 11:50 p.m. at Advocate Bromenn Hospital in Normal, Ill.
Joann was born on September 8, 1935, in Chicago, Ill.; daughter of George E. and Elizabeth (Higgins) Miller. She was raised by Charles and Nora Day since she was 18 months old when her mother passed away. She married Raymond Mittelsteadt on December 16, 1967. He preceded her in death on May 23, 1986.
Surviving Joann is her step mother, Gladys Miller of Orlando, Fla.; significant other: Gary Hinton of Lincoln, Ill; her son, Alan (Rhonda Cooper) Mittelsteadt of Marquette Heights, Ill.; three step daughters: Vicki L. (Larry) Huelskoetter of Beason, Ill., Jan Schacht of Lincoln, Ill. and Kay (Dave) Stroud of Armington, Ill.; three sisters, Shirley Knutson of Concord, Mich., Norma Taylor of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Patricia (Bob) Turner of Wilmar, Ark.; one brother: George (Sue) Miller of Wilmar, Ark.; half-brother: Allen (Linda) Miller of Parsons, Tenn.; one half sister: Sharon Stone of Tenn.; step sister: Pat Reeves of Darden, Tenn.; six grandchildren; three step grandchildren; four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, one brother, one infant brother, and one half sister.
Joann was a Daughter of the American Revolution and was a member of the Humane Society of Logan County, Ducks Unlimited, and the Oasis Senior Center in Lincoln, Ill.
Services for Joann were held on Thursday July 12, 2018 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, Ill. Visitation was held on Wednesday July 11, 2018 also at the funeral home. Burial at Mt. Pulaski cemetery followed the service.
Memorials may be made in Joann’s name to Humane Society of Logan County or Ruby’s Rescue and Retreat in Mclean, IL.
